If there’s one thing that unites millions of people, it’s a passion for football. Here’s how you can watch football on your cell phone.
And if before we had to root for our team’s game to be broadcast on open television, today the reality is completely different.
As a father of two children with a very busy routine, I often resort to apps on my cell phone to follow the matches. And I can tell you: it’s been a wonderful solution!
There are several apps for watching live football, both paid and free, and with them you can watch games of your national team, your favorite club or even international championships directly from your cell phone or tablet.
This is a great help, especially when I’m away from home, traveling or even at the office.
See some apps for watching football on your cell phone
Apps
Globoplay
One of the most traditional is Globoplay, which broadcasts games shown on TV Globo. The app is very complete and, in addition to live games, has on-demand content, such as highlights, interviews and documentaries.
I remember watching a Brazilian championship final on my cell phone during a meeting break. Yes, it was on silent mode, but I could feel the excitement!
Star+
Another app I use a lot is Star+. It’s a favorite among those who like European football, especially the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and other important championships.
Star+ belongs to the Disney group, so the broadcast quality is excellent. I have a friend, Caio, who never misses a Barcelona game.
He subscribes to Star+ just because of this — and he swears it’s worth every penny.
OneFootball
For the more “hardcore” ones, there’s OneFootball, which is a free and very complete app. It broadcasts live games from some international championships and doesn’t charge anything for it.
When I found out about this, I was surprised. And it also has real-time statistics, lineups, news and even videos of goals. Not to mention that it’s lightweight and works well even on older cell phones.
Dazn
Another favorite is DAZN. They have invested heavily in alternative leagues and less popular tournaments, such as the Série C of the Brazilian Championship, the Copa Sul-Americana and even women’s leagues.
In fact, my oldest daughter started to like soccer by watching Corinthians women’s games on DAZN.
I thought it was fantastic to see this interest grow in her, especially through such an accessible app.
ESPN
There is also the ESPN App, which integrates with Star+ in many cases, but also allows you to follow matches with commentary and analysis, in addition to a vast amount of sports content, not just soccer.
I usually leave the alerts activated, so I know when an important game starts or when a goal is scored.
It is also worth mentioning the apps for open TV and closed channels.
Apps such as SBT Vídeos, Band Play and Globo’s own app provide live broadcasts, depending on the game and the competition.
It is a good idea to check the schedule and what is available, because it can vary.
Now, I cannot fail to mention something that makes a difference: the quality of the internet.
I was once watching a São Paulo classic on my cell phone on Globoplay and the connection dropped in the middle of the second half!
Since then, I always keep my Wi-Fi boosted and, when necessary, I use 4G/5G with a plan that can handle the load.
So, if you love soccer, like me, and want to follow your team wherever you are, download at least two of these apps.
A personal tip: keep one main app and another as a backup, in case one of them breaks.
The best thing is that, with this ease, we can keep our passion for soccer alive, even with a busy schedule.
Watching a game during my work break or on the way home has become part of my daily routine — and honestly, it has been very good.
After all, as they say, soccer is not just a sport. It is emotion, culture and, above all, a way to connect with what makes us feel alive.
