Watching free TV on your cell phone

Watching free TV on your cell phone is easier and more practical than you might think. Watch free-to-air TV channels on your cell phone.

Is there anything more practical these days than watching TV directly on your cell phone? I grew up in a time when everyone gathered in the living room to watch soap operas or the news, and I confess that I was impressed by how much everything has changed.

Today, with a simple app and a good internet connection, you can have the entire television in the palm of your hand. And the best part: you don’t have to pay anything for it.

I started watching free TV on my cell phone by chance. My power was out at home because of heavy rain, and I missed the final episode of a police series that I was watching. So I went looking for an alternative on my cell phone and found an app that broadcast live free-to-air channels. Since then, it has become my daily ally.

I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who loves watching the news in the morning, watching a program while I’m making lunch or watching a soccer game in the late afternoon. But I’m not always at home, right? So my cell phone has become my new TV.

And a lot of people are getting into it too. My wife, for example, loves watching cooking and home decor shows — and she does all of this while she’s on the bus or waiting for the kids to get out of school.

Even my mother, who isn’t a big fan of technology, has gotten the hang of it and watches soap operas on her cell phone with her headphones on. She said she actually prefers it, because that way she can watch what she wants, when she wants.

For those who don’t know yet, I’ll share here some of the apps I use to watch free TV on my cell phone:

Apps to watch free TV

Pluto TV
This is one of my favorites. In addition to being free, it has several live channels, from movies, series, news, to cartoons for children. The interface is easy to use and doesn’t even require registration.

TV Brasil Play
This is the official app for Brazilian public TV. It has educational, news, cultural and children’s programs. Lots of cool content and 100% free.

SBT Vídeos
This app is ideal for those who enjoy SBT programming. It has soap operas, talk shows, reality shows and even live content.

GloboPlay (free content)
Despite having a paid version, Globoplay also offers a lot of free stuff. The news programs and some Globo programs are available for free.

Red Bull TV
If you like extreme sports, music and different documentaries, this app is a great find. It’s all free and has excellent image quality.

Zapping or DGO (trial version)
These apps offer live channels, including broadcast TV, with free versions for a limited time. It’s worth trying to see if they’re right for you.

The secret is to have a reasonable internet connection and a headset — and then you’ll have TV in your pocket all the time.

The truth is that cell phones have become much more than just phones. They’re our radio, our diary, our wallet… and now, our TV too. And there’s no excuse that it’s expensive or difficult, because with these apps, everyone can watch their favorite shows for free, anywhere.

So, if you haven’t taken advantage of this yet, I recommend you give it a try. Download one of the apps I mentioned, play a newspaper, soap opera or even a cartoon for the kids. I guarantee: after a while, you won’t even remember when was the last time you turned on the TV in the living room!
